Tales of the Midnight Mall #3: A Dead Mall is Discovered

I guess this is more like a tale of a dead mall. This dream takes place in an office space that I work at (not sure what kind job I have). It seems that the management figured out there must be a room behind a wall without any kind of access to it. So, a contractor is hired to knock out a hole in the wall, so we can see what's behind it.

I was sitting at my desk, doing my thing with the computer, when I heard the contractor call out, "Hey, everyone -- check this out!"

My co-workers and I gathered around the newly made hole, and we saw what had amazed the contractor. It wasn't a room at all, but space above a floor at least 2 stories down, which meant it was underground. But what we saw wasn't a basement but part of a dark shopping mall. An empty water fountain, and a dark store entrance with a sign reading "FLORSHEIM" in a mid-century-style font above it.

Someone said, "Wow, I had no idea there used to be a mall here!"

Someone else said, "Let's go down there and chec it out."

Unfortunately, the dream ended there, so I don't know if we made it down.

Flat Ferris Wheel

I've posted quite a few dreams here involvng amusement park rides here. In case you're wondering, no, I'm not an amusement park ride designer or anything like that, though I imagine that would be an interesting job. However, my subconsciousness is probably one in its spare time. For example, one recent dream involves a really odd type of ferris wheel that I'm not sure exists in real life.

Goldilocks Ferris Wheels

I've blogged here quite a few times about amusement parks and rides, and I don't know why they feature so much in my dreams. Maybe it's because I used to be an amusement park buff. Also, don't your pulse quicken in excitement when you drive by an amusement park with sloping latticework of a roller coaster, too? Anyway, here's a dream about a weird ride -- actually more like a trio of rides.

Borrowed Blue Shoes

I seem to have so many dreams about amusement parks and roller coasters,

even though i never worked at one. I do have a soft spot for amusement parks. Heck, this blog is named after one of these dreams. But, I won't waste time analyzing why in this particular post.

Park Stroll Goes Awry

A friend and I were in a park, strolling alongside a creek somewhere near Denver when we spotted a railroad track of sorts running zigzag across the slope on the other side of the creek. Eventually, we encountered a small train lugging an open-air car of seats, like the kind you see in amusement parks. The train was empty except for a man driving it, who called out to us, "Hey, would you like a ride? There's a snack shop that I run at the end of the way."

Lemon Drop Ride

Okay, here's the dream that inspired this blog's name. A friend and I were driving through some New England-style countryside when we happened upon an amusement park. I don't know what its name was, and most likely, it doesn't exist in real life like many places in my dreams. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was called Candyland as many buildings and rides there had a candy theme. For example, the Tilt-a-Whirl ride was called Jelly Beans, and each car was done in a different bright pastel color instead of the usual red.
