Backward-Facing TV

One night I dreamed I was in an old aiport that had been converted into a shopping mall, with gates and waiting rooms converted to shops and restaurants. Many of these businesses have wide windows looking out onto what would have been the tarmac but now converted to parkling lots for shoppers. This makes the mall quite bright and open, a rather pleasant place to visit. Anyway, I was strolling down the concourse when i spotted a college-age man waling ahead of me. sporting a futuristic-looking white backpack. A smallish flat-screen TV was affixed to the backpack, so anyone walking behind him could watch TVCurrently, the TV was running a cartoon featuring a sacrastic-looking blue rabbit named Bopper. (Not sure if this show exists in real life.) No idea why this man is walking around with a TV he can't see -- perhaps he was an art student doing some weird art experiment.

Anyway, this could be a great marketing venture, having people run ads on their acks for other people to watch -- like the 21st century version of the sandwich man. If you're in marketing and you like this idea, go ahead and take it -- I won't charge you for it.

Tales of the Midnight Mall #3: A Dead Mall is Discovered

I guess this is more like a tale of a dead mall. This dream takes place in an office space that I work at (not sure what kind job I have). It seems that the management figured out there must be a room behind a wall without any kind of access to it. So, a contractor is hired to knock out a hole in the wall, so we can see what's behind it.

I was sitting at my desk, doing my thing with the computer, when I heard the contractor call out, "Hey, everyone -- check this out!"

My co-workers and I gathered around the newly made hole, and we saw what had amazed the contractor. It wasn't a room at all, but space above a floor at least 2 stories down, which meant it was underground. But what we saw wasn't a basement but part of a dark shopping mall. An empty water fountain, and a dark store entrance with a sign reading "FLORSHEIM" in a mid-century-style font above it.

Someone said, "Wow, I had no idea there used to be a mall here!"

Someone else said, "Let's go down there and chec it out."

Unfortunately, the dream ended there, so I don't know if we made it down.

Airport from Hell and the World's Largest Indoor Hotel Pool

Recently, I had 2 dreams on 2 separate nights that aren't really a part of each other, but they had themes that made them seem like a 2-part dream. The first dream involves being at a strange airport, and the other dream involves flying to some Tiki-like country like Tahiti or even the state of Hawaii and vising what was supposed to be world's biggest indoor hotel swimming pool.

Jetway Art

Sometimes, art exhibits take place in unusual places. For example, in real life, I once visited a small art show consisting of very small things, which was held in a rented hotel room (with the bed temporarily removed for space). Now, in this dream, an art exhibit was held in a very unusual location - a series of jetways set up in a park. Yep, these things that you walk through to board an airplane. I have no idea how the artist would have gotten a hold of jetways, let alone set them up in a long tunnel snaking throughout the park. (Are there places where you can guy used jetways the way you can guy used airplanes?)  To visit the exhibit, you would climb one of the stairways by the supporting pillars up into the jetway and then exit by the same stairs or any other stairways along the way. I have no idea why the artist chose jetways -- maybe the theme of his show was transitions or something alofty like that. Unfortunately, I don't remember much of the dream or what kind of art was featured -- just these jetways, and people going up and down these stairs.

All for Nothing!

In a dream 2 years ago, I was at a newsstand in an airport, looking through magazines. I came across a magazine named "All for Nothing" with a lot of negative messages on the front like "I Worked My Ass Off for Nothing!" At first, I thought it was a sarcastic magazine, but as I leafed through it, it was really full of little articles by angry or depressed people complaining how terrible their lives are (like a twist on "Penthouse Letters" without the steamy sex parts). Who would publish such a mag and who would read such a thing? :-)
